chillies under artificial light
To my chili in the winter I prefer large fluorescent tubes, short LSRs. These fluorescent bulbs cost a few € and not consume too much electricity. Special plant lights, I do not think much, which are also quite expensive! With the LSRs I have very good experience made. The Chilis get an extremely juicy green, branch more and simply look better than chillies on a windowsill.
The correct LSR for chili plants
The most important of the LSRs is that you can not just buy any hardware store. There are LSRs with different color temperatures, and if something rummaging through the forums Chili finds some different views on which one should take LSRs which phase of growth.

LSR 865 Daylight / Daylight Replacement

That sounds good not only for humans but also of the plant is doing very well. Who has a bushy growth wants should take up 865. This light corresponds to the light which we do in the summer. On the right picture you can see pretty well how bright these lights are.
LSR 840 Cool White / White Work Light
offices and public Buildings, outdoor lighting. Where in Northern Europe by many people to be too cool for living rooms.
This corresponds to the fluorescent tube light in the late summer / autumn / winter and should be used when bloom Chili should . Do you use a 840 LSR for small plants, they are very early cast flowers instead of growing big and strong. Right you can see well that the light seems a bit more red and not as bright as indicated above for the 865.

Last year I had four 840 fluorescent tubes in my closet and Vorzucht was actually quite satisfied, although the plants in retrospect have started much too early to bloom. This year I dug a bit in the basement and found two 865 LSRs.
So I have replaced the two center fluorescent lamps for 865 and took a picture of it the same time:)
cost of lighting a
four fluorescent 18 watt I use in my small Chili Vorzucht cabinet. The LSRs then light 1-3 months long for 16 hours a day. At 20 cents per kw / h cost me four LSRs € 6.92 per month. For three months I capitalize on the plants this way, so pull it cost 20.76.
